Building on the reliability and accuracy of the previous model, A&D Medical has released their UM-102A Mercury-Free Sphygmomanometer, opening up a completely new era of professional blood pressure measurement. Improving on the last model's design, the UM-102A features a new ergonomic, lightweight and modern design, resulting in a sleek and advanced device that will improve quality of care. Designed for professional use, it allows clinicians to record accurate blood pressure measurements using the "Gold Standard" auscultatory measurement technique while listening for Korotkoff sounds with a stethoscope.
Versatile and Simple to Use
Featuring an extensive range of latex free, compatible cuffs with unique PMS (Instruments) Ltd "quick fit" connectors with inflation bulbs already attached, swapping cuffs on this device is quick and simple. The UM-102A Mercury Free Manual Sphygmomanometer has the same familiar look and feel as a traditional Mercury sphygmomanometer, but has none of the disadvantages. The large, easy to read, vertical display mimics a falling Mercury column, and is graduated just like a traditional sphygmomanometer.
History of Sphygmomanometers
In 1905, Dr. Nikolai S. Korotkov introduced his theory of blood pressure measurement using the Riva-Rocci mercury monitor. Since then, blood pressure measurement using the mercury column has been reigned as the gold standard of blood pressure measurement, and his method known as the "Korotkov method" or "auscultatory method" is used for daily blood pressure monitoring by healthcare professionals worldwide.
As a leading manufacturer of blood pressure monitors, A&D is responding to the call from the international medical community to ban the use of this toxic metal and has developed a new, highly advanced digital blood pressure monitor. The UM-102A was designed to be used as an alternative to the mercury column, while at the same time preserving the local environment and creating an easy-to-use product for hospital personnel.
